Welcome & Introduction
Pack your bags and prepare for a wonderful trip to beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. Our parish, Church of Our Lord, has graciously offered to host the 52nd General Council of the Reformed Episcopal Church. This event will take place from Wednesday October 22nd through Friday October 24th.NOTE - Diocese of Mid-America representatives will conduct their Synod Business on Tuesday October 21st.
As this Council will take place in Canada and most of the attendees will travel from the United States, there are a few preparations that must be made. We have provided this site to provide you with all the details and suggestions that we can. Please be sure to visit each of these links. Also, Registration and Parish Certification will be provided through an Online System. Every person attending General Council and/or the Banquet will be required to complete an online registration form. Likewise, the priest of each parish will be required to certify parish statistics and representatives through this system. Online Registration will begin February 1st.Located on the right side of this (and every) page are some boxes. The first box contains some hyperlinks. These links will provide you with some background information about Victoria,BC and Church of our Lord, the Council schedule, expected costs, hotel information, travel suggestions and the online registration system.
The second box is where you will find General Council reports available for download. Starting August 1st, reports will be posted to our electronic system. The list of these reports will be available immediately following their submission. Please return to this website periodically to check for new documents. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH REPRESENTATIVE AND CLERGYMAN ATTENDING GENERAL COUNCIL TO DOWNLOAD, VIEW AND PRINT THESE REPORTS PRIOR TO GENERAL COUNCIL.
The fourth box provides a link to learn more about obtaining a US Passport. A recent change in the United States requires that every individual (even infants) have a passport for travel between Canada and the USA. Note that the lead time for receiving/renewing passports has increased significantly. Please be sure to apply/renew your passports as soon as possible.
Parishes should elect their representatives as early as possible in 2008. Doing so will enable these representatives to make the necessary arrangements for Passports and travel. If your parish waits too long, your representatives may enounter problems getting things done in time.
